My Story

When I was in high school I wrote a short story that got published in a literary journal. I can’t remember the name of it now, but my parents sent it to everyone they knew. I didn’t know then that I would one day call myself a professional writer.

I grew up in Victoria, BC, surrounded by salty sea and coastal forest. It’s the place that will always draw me back from wherever I go, but that’s another thing I didn’t know when I was young.

As soon as I could, I left home and found myself at Princeton University. I spent one summer working in criminal justice in New York City, and another in economic development in Chicago. Four years later, I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and an itch to head back to the West Coast.

I start my career among a talented bunch of storytellers at LaunchSquad, a PR and content marketing agency in San Francisco. I launched new companies, wrote bylines for pioneering CEOs, worked with tech companies that have changed the world, and helped decades-old institutions rebrand for a new generation.

Then one day I decided it was time to continue my education in international relations. From California I booked a one-way ticket to Southeast Asia, kicking off a two-year adventure to thirty countries on five continents. Along the way, I started my business as a freelance marketing consultant, working with clients from Silicon Valley to Amsterdam to Australia.

As you might have guessed, that journey led me back to my hometown, Victoria, BC. Today I write from my home on beautiful Vancouver Island where I live with my husband, Ben, our son Rowan and our small but mighty dog, Pax.

I’d love to hear your story!
